Cleaning

Operators often only pay attention to cooling water or cooling water-bearing systems (or system parts) if they cause problems in the production process. These problems usually only manifest themselves in the fact that plant-specific, operationally necessary parameters can no longer be met.

Since these problems only appear very gradually, the first signs are often not noticed or compensated for in the production process with energy-intensive and cost-intensive measures.

The problems are often caused by various kinds of deposits in the cooling water system. These may be lime deposits, general sedimentation or deposit products as well as oxidation products from corrosion processes of the plant materials (e.g. rust). Quite often we are dealing with biological problems (so-called biofilm, whose formation is encouraged by nutrient-rich product break-ins), which occur in mucous deposits or often in so-called algae curtains.

These deposits are often caused by inadequate (or no) conditioning of the cooling water, but sometimes also by technical defects.

To repair the fault, the cooling water system or the individual faulty plant components must be chemically cleaned; one of the ways in which this can be done is by decoupling and short-circuiting the affected heat exchanger or the cooling tower and its components.

This is where INWATEC’s portfolio comes in: we offer cleaning programmes specially tailored to customer needs.

These can be implemented alongside the general downtime repair work using INWATEC’s own equipment. An alternative option is to use the existing plant technology to carry out gentle cleaning over a longer period of time during operation and under heat load and while analysing the process.

The principal differences between the types of cleaning or cleaners we offer lie in their main active ingredients:

  • Acidic products for the removal of lime deposits or other sediments
  • Organic or oxidative products for removing biological deposits or other biological contaminants

Together with the customer, we identify the type of problem in advance. We analyse the composition of the deposits, which plays an important role. The materials used, e.g. non-ferrous metals or special plastics, are taken into account as well as the customer’s special wishes, individual possibilities and official requirements.
